Well, my co-worker is insisting that her terminally shy son is really wanting to take me out to dinner and see where things go. For having met this guy once for a couple of minutes with him all but staring at the floor I find it hard to believe but then a couple of her family members have mentioned that yes its really true. He DID hang around the house the whole afternoon while I was visiting a few weeks back, apparently listening to everything I said!
He was upset that no one invited me up for the weekend, but when I told her to invite him to lunch with us on Sunday he panicked and bailed out! Geez.....I was up most of Saturday night with butterflies in the tummy, mentally reviewing my wardrobe, kicking myself for not owning some nicer clothes than jeans and then he chickens out! MEN! What a waste of what could have been a wonderful night's sleep.
Well, the co-worker says that when I come up next weekend that he'll be in a place where he feels more comfortable and then maybe he'll work up the courage. Wow. Never saw such shyness in a family before. But then look at me...I have a problem shutting up nine times out of ten....shyness ceased to be a problem for me years ago!
Still, I definately am heading up there next weekend as this guy has offered to fix the valve on my transmission (bless him!), and I will be up again on the 4th for a concert so it gives him a couple of chances to unwind a bit and realize that I don't bite (well, not on the first date anyway!) Actually, I'll probably just ask if he wants to go to the concert...I guess the butterflies will have to be placed on hold for another couple of days!
