Mouse Update

Well, he's still alive and kicking....or rather, alive while I am doing the kicking. I was awoken early Sunday morning (3 am)with a very early morning caller and while I tried to wake up enough to carry on a decent conversation I moved my feet around. Squeak. Didn't think much of it and moved again. Squeak. Paused and deliberately moved my feet again and this time got a torrent of squeaks. Maybe I was too tired and still sleepy but it didn't really occur to me at the time that the mouse was on my bed. If memory serves I think I told my caller that it sounded like there was some mousy fight going on in the house....it wasn't until later that morning that it occurred to me that he could have been squeaking because I was kicking his little rodent butt. Needless to say I got up this morning moving rather carefully just in case.

have you gotten a trap yet? for crying out loud woman! Get rid of that little monster.

Two suggestion to use as bait, in no particular order:

1 - peanut butter (it's sticky so it's harder for the mouse to eat it without setting off the trap

2 - some cotton (but get the bottom of it just a little bit wet first so it sticks to the trap. the little buggers love to gather that stuff for their nests...especially now that it's getting cold.)

Yeah...I have two instant death traps in the house and they just climb over the top of the things and/or go around. Both are baited with peanut butter but maybe I should have stuffed one of my dishrags in there--they've eaten a hole in two so far! Ugh! If they don't go for the poison I am going to have to put down sticky paper and that's just a little too mean...

I'm sure they're chewing through your dishrags to use as insulation for their little houses. Try the cotton thing with a good old school spring loaded trap. Maybe glue the cotton to the trap.

Put little GPS packs on the mice. Find their house. Then move it to the lee of the stone! :D

LOL

That's some solid advice Miya gives. She must be the Great Owl.

O great owl...come in and freaking help yourself! And Yancy...I don't want to see the broken little remains (which is why I haven't picked up any spring traps). I did however buy an 8-pk of tomcat poison blocks and set them out around the kitchen (need a few in my room too)last night. Checked this morning and somebody's been nibbling on a couple!

Psh, the Great Owl does not fly 12 hours for some crummy trailer mice when there's plenty of tiny animals in the garden out back!

Actually O Great One it took me 10 hours to drive straight from Couer d'Alene (yes I was going the speed limit)so you're proly only looking at 9 hours of fly time...that is so worth it for a bundle of trailer meece!
