I miss my PC

My PC's drive was on the verge of death....at first I thought it was a virus or just "old age" that was slowing everything down but then programs began to freeze and crash. A consultation with my computer tech/technological genius brother-in-law brought on the much harsher reality that I was NOT to turn my PC on again, ship him the drives and he'd see if it was possible to transfer the information over to new ones.

For a gal who gets truly frustrated at times with computers and all things technological, you'd think a break from my PC would be a good thing.

Not in the least.

You don't realize just how much you do with a PC until its not there. My MP3 player is synched to it so I am unable to remove annoying songs that somehow crept onto its playlists, nor can I add new tunes that have come to my attention. I have (literally) tons of saved data on my PC....everything from pictures of family, my music and video library, images that inspire a "creative spark" with my craft ideas....and pretty much every good picture that I have taken with my camera are lodged within its silicon chips. These things (some of them irresplaceable) are now out of my reach. I am being held hostage with the threat of losing so much valuable information that I didn't even realize I held. For some time now I had been telling myself I needed to buy an external hard drive to back up my files, but always managed to put it off "until my next paycheck". Oh the folly. I am SO going to get an external drive and do regular back-ups from now on.

Don't get me wrong, I love my MacBook....but so much of my personal data is on my desktop so loving the Mac isn't helping at the moment.

I guess the old saying is true, that you don't know what you've got until its gone....

Come home little PC.....I miss you more than words can truly say.

I saw him working on it last night. He said "Holy frak, there's like a billion gigs of music videos on here!" lol.
